For guests

From castle to North Sea.

Ghent, Bruges, the coast and the Westhoek: all within an hour. This is why guests choose this region.

Ghent: the city that has it all

The Gravensteen castle, the Graslei at dusk, St Bavo's Cathedral with the Ghent Altarpiece, and a food scene running from veggie pioneer to Michelin star: Ghent is compact enough to explore on foot and lively enough to never run out. Student city, culture city and medieval backdrop in one.

Bruges & the coast

Half an hour from Ghent lies Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage site and perhaps the most photographed city in the country. Beyond it: 67 kilometres of coastline, from elegant Knokke to the wide beach of De Panne, with belle-époque De Haan in between.

The Westhoek

For quiet, head into the Westhoek: Ypres and the First World War remembrance sites, hop fields around Poperinge, and cycling and walking routes through open landscape. The contrast with the city is what makes this region so strong as a whole.

In every SÉJO stay you'll find local tips from people who know the region inside out — not a standard list, but places we actually go.
